Chris Jericho earned a crazy amount for his WWE Greatest Royal Rumble involvement

Over the past year, WWE has been able to splash the cash for their shows in Saudi Arabia thanks to their lucrative 10-year deal with the country that is worth $45 million a year.

The deal has allowed the WWE to pay for the return of superstars from the past to the company either in a full-time or part-time role, as well as one-off appearances at the events in the Kingdom.

WWE has already hosted two huge events this year in Saudi Arabia, the Greatest Royal Rumble back in April, and Crown Jewel earlier this month.

One superstar who earned a lot of money for their involvement in just one of these shows is Chris Jericho, as he competed at the Greatest Royal Rumble, but not at Crown Jewel.

Jericho, who now has the luxury of competing in the WWE when it best suits him due to his popularity, earned a staggering $100,000 for his involvement at the Greatest Royal Rumble earlier this year, according to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com.

Y2J was the last entrant in the 50-man Royal Rumble at the show, which was eventually won by Braun Strowman.

Jericho lasted in the match for only three minutes and 18 seconds. He only managed to eliminate one superstar in the match (Shelton Benjamin) before being eliminated himself by Strowman.

Here's what Jericho said during an interview earlier this year with The Mirror, via NoDQ, about the amount he was paid by WWE for his involvement at the Greatest Royal Rumble.

He said: “It was cool man. It was a long trip for a short period of time – I think I was in the Rumble match for four minutes or something like that. I know they must have been paid a whole lot of money, just by proxy of what I was paid ha ha.

"I was like ‘oh my gosh, really, you’re going to pay me that to do this? How much are you guys making?’ I always say I don’t do things for money but once in a while opportunities come up where you’re crazy if you don’t do it.

"It was a quick trip, I don’t remember much about it, because we arrived there, three in the afternoon one day and the next day we’re at the stadium at nine in the morning and we get back to the hotel at one in the morning and we’re gone at 5am. So you’re really quickly in and out.

"Did I get a chance to do much other than sit in my room and try and get as much sleep as I could and sit in the backstage of a dusty old stadium? No I didn’t. Ha ha. That’s about all I saw.”

Even Jericho was surprised by the amount of money which WWE was paying him for his involvement. Then again, can you really blame him for not turning it down?
