A WWE legend made a return to Monday Night Raw under 'The Conquistador' disguise

When WWE announced the second special event to emanate from Saudi Arabia on November 2 - Crown Jewel - they also announced the WWE World Cup.

Not many details were revealed around the name, but we all found out what it was all about on Monday Night Raw last night.

There will be an eight-man tournament in Riyadh, four superstars from Raw and four from SmackDown Live, with various qualifying matches throughout the next few weeks, but one man who gets in automatically it seems is John Cena.

The leader of the Cenation was the first man named in the tournament, and on Monday Night Raw last night, Interim General Manager Baron Corbin announced a Battle Royal for the second competitor slot.

But instead of the cream of the crop from the Raw roster being involved, various jobber-looking superstars who 'represented countries from around the world' were involved instead.

They included 'The Conquistador', who we've seen in various guises in the past in the company, most notably in the year 2000 when Edge and Christian portrayed them to get another WWF Tag Team Championship shot.

But he was the only one to slip out of the ring as Corbin lay waste to every other man in the ring, and then the Conquistador shockingly hit a trio of German Suplexes on the Raw GM.

And then the penny dropped for the fans - as Corbin was dropped by an Olympic Slam in the middle of the ring and sent flying over the top rope.

The mask was taken off and revealed to be none other than a returning Kurt Angle, who's supposed to be on 'vacation' from his General Manager duties.

It seems like the Saudis want all the big names competing at Crown Jewel, so no doubt the money played a factor into Angle returning at this point.

And with a rumoured Survivor Series elimination match for control of Monday Night Raw on the horizon, it gives Angle a chance to shake off the ring-rust ahead of the bout.
