WWE appear to confirm when The Rock will return with teasing Tweet

Does an event ever pass without some kind of speculation about when The Rock will return to the WWE?

For many fans, it's the eternal question. The Great One absolutely electrified WWE fans during his initial seven-year full-time run in the company - particularly from 1998 onwards - and there is always a place for Rock in WWE.

However, he has become one of the highest paid actors in all of Hollywood over the past decade and the time for him to come back seems to never be there.

During his last run, where he lost to John Cena at WrestleMania 29, The Rock tore his groin and as a result, filming of Hercules was seriously delayed and cost the production company a lot of money.

It seems as though the Brahma Bull has been reluctant to take that chance again, but with SmackDown 1000 on the horizon - the show that was created after his catchphrase in 1999 - many believe The Rock will make an appearance.

Just last week, the WWE released it's top 15 superstars in SmackDown history and, you guessed it, The Rock was at the top of the list.

Therefore, it would feel pretty strange if the best superstar the show has ever had wasn't at such a milestone event, wouldn't it?

Reports had stated that a scheduling conflict might prevent The Rock from attending, but this tweet from the WWE certainly suggests that he will be there.

It's not like the WWE to promote something like this, put a superstars face on it, and not have them show up. History tells us that much. However, the WWE have also posted a similar tweet with Brock Lesnar in it since...

A couple of months ago, Cathy Kelley caught up with The Rock at the premiere of his film Skyscraper and the former 10-time world champion insisting he can't wait to return to WWE one day soon.

“Everybody always asks me what’s it like being in a WWE ring and I always tell them, there’s a lot of celebrities and athletes too, I say there’s nothing like it.

“There’s nothing like [being] inside a WWE ring because there’s a certain live crowd acumen, there’s great connective tissue that’s second to none.

“That was always, and will always be the best part of my job when it comes to wrestling, whether I’m wrestling a match or just giving a promo. That connection with the audience, there’s nothing like it.”
