WWE confirm that former WWE champion will return full-time at SmackDown 1000

SmackDown 1000 is just over a week away and the WWE are beginning to pull out all of the stops.

Of course, RAW 1000 had all kinds of surprises and legendary returns for fans to enjoy and while Raw 25 didn't quite live up to those high standards, it still had some cool moments.

Raw has always been the WWE's flagship show, but SmackDown has been a strong supporting act since 1999 and, on occasions, it has outshone its big brother.

The show was named after The Rock in the beginning after one of his many catchphrases went mainstream and there have been reports that the Great One will show up next week.

As usual, The Rock's filming schedule is said to be proving problematic for an appearance, but the WWE have other surprises up their sleeve.

The Undertaker has already been confirmed to attend the event after being a staple of the show since the brand split back in 2002. Batista will also be making his long-awaited return to the company to line up alongside his Evolution buddies.

However, it seems they have another return in mind.

Rey Mysterio has long been rumoured to be returning to the WWE and his inclusion in the WWE 2K19 game led many to believe that was the case. Now, the WWE have confirmed that the former WWE champion will make his full-time return to the company at SD Live 1000.

Just last month, Mysterio casted some doubt on when he would return to the company and in what capacity.

“We got to keep in mind that rumors will always be rumors,” he said. “There’s nothing locked in. There’s nothing secure that says that I am going back. I’m doing what I’m doing right now.

"I’m enjoying my independent wrestling life. I get to choose and pick when I want to wrestle, where I want to wrestle. If I want matches, like we just mentioned, versus Kenny [Omega], I’m going to make them happen, if it’s possible.

“There’s no insurance or security right now that I am going back. I’ll tell you what though, if the time is right and there’s an agreement on both ends, meaning WWE and myself, and there’s an offer on the table, I wouldn’t say no. If it’s correct. If it’s the right one. But in the meantime, I’m still enjoying my liberty out here in independent wrestling.”

Now that we know the master of the 619 is definitely returning, the multitude of dream matches available have a chance to come to fruition.
