WWE already have a planned winner for the 2019 Royal Rumble match [WrestleVotes]

The 2019 Royal Rumble is just under four months away, but the build-up will arrive sooner than you think.

With so many special events coming up, things are moving quickly, and the Road to WrestleMania will be fast upon us.

Last year saw Shinsuke Nakamura eliminate Roman Reigns to secure a title shot against AJ Styles, but he went on to lose the WrestleMania bout in New Orleans, and failed to capture the WWE Championship altogether in their three-month feud.

The match in itself was overshadowed by the mass returns and shock debut of Ronda Rousey that accompanied the first-ever Women's Royal Rumble bout, and you can probably expect the males to headline the card once again in 2019.

Daniel Bryan was actually discussing the venue of the show this week - the Arizona Diamondbacks' Chase Field baseball stadium, which could hold up to 50,000 people, about the possibility of superstars entering the match via the dugouts - which would be super-cool.

Twitter account WrestleVotes, who have claimed some big scoops over the past year such as being the first to announce that Neville had walked out on WWE, have stated that the company already have a winner in mind for the Rumble match.

Of course, plans can change between now and January, but the clue the person behind the account gave in regards to a name is slightly surprising.

They've stated to a fan who asked if they knew who the winner of the bout would be: "Let’s just say as of now, it’s a repeat winner."

Judging from current storylines, any of the current active past winners would probably be pretty underwhelming.

Nakamura has been underwhelming since his feud with Styles, and 2017 victor Randy Orton has turned back into a sadistic heel, but at this moment there would be better options on SmackDown for the winner.

Winner of the 2015 Rumble, Roman Reigns, is currently Universal Champion, and is expected to keep hold of it for a while, whilst Sheamus is the only currently active full-timer who has won a Rumble match, and has been nowhere near the main event for years.

That leaves all the part-timers who have achieved Rumble success - Triple H, Batista, John Cena, The Undertaker, Rey Mysterio, Brock Lesnar, Shawn Michaels and The Rock.

Mysterio is actually returning soon on a full-time two-year deal, but it's unlikely that Vince McMahon would push him in a WrestleMania main event in 2019.

The most interesting of names is actually bookmakers' SkyBet's evens favourite right now to win the match - and that is The Rock.

He hasn't had a proper run in the company since his 2013 Mania loss to Cena, but if he went on to dethrone Reigns at WrestleMania, we're damn-sure the WWE Universe would lose their minds.
