WWE fans are raging at what Stephanie McMahon thinks is the key to the company's success

GiveMeSport | Updated: 2018-09-14 21:00:14

Stephanie McMahon has been a peripheral figure in the WWE for years now, and she just can't seem to stay away from television.

After being a key storyline figure in the Attitude Era, where she met her future husband Triple H, she only appeared sporadically on television between 2004 and 2007, returning for a six-month stint in November 2008 as the Raw General Manager.

She then disappeared then until 2013, where she became 'The Authority' with her partner 'The Game'.

But Stephanie has been called out by several industry figures in recent times, who claim the 'women's revolution' that McMahon has oversaw is nothing more than a Public Relations ploy.

Despite criticism, WWE have secured a new mega TV deal which will see SmackDown Live move to Fox Sports next year, which shows there's still big interest from sports broadcasters in the United States.

But from a live audience perspective, lots of the WWE Universe seem to be desperately unhappy with the direction of some competitors - mainly Roman Reigns.

From crowd reactions alone, the fans don't want Reigns to be the face of the company. Merchandise sales may rank him at the top, but there's still a clear distain for the 'Big Dog'.

So when McMahon was heard telling executives at SportsBusiness Journal's Game Changers Conference what the main reason for the success of WWE is, they weren't happy one bit.

The 'Billion Dollar Princess' was quoted as saying: “We’re successful for one reason only - we listened to our audience.”

And that drew rants from all corners of the globe.

As seen from the tweets below concerning a number of superstars, they couldn't disagree any more.

Yikes, that is some level of backlash.

We think Stephanie might be choosing her words more carefully in the next media appearance that she does.
