Jason Garrett is being roasted for his reasoning behind game-losing punt

The Dallas Cowboys have made an underwhelming start to the 2018 NFL season, to say the very least.

Another depressing loss, this time to in-state rivals the Houston Texans, saw Garrett make a call that has already come back to haunt him and it is made to look even worse by another team making the complete opposite call earlier in the day and winning.

And it could come back to bite Garrett much worse than just a loss would, with fans slating the decision and even Jerry Jones coming out against it.

On fourth-and-1 on the Texans’ 42-yard line with less than six minutes remaining in overtime, Garrett chose to punt.

This is despite the fact that the have the highest-paid offensive line in the entire National Football League and also have Ezekiel Elliott in their backfield - a former fourth overall draft pick.

If you have the talent like that and still don't have the cojones to go for it, then it shows a real act of cowardice and playing not to lose rather than playing to win. The ball was on the Texans side of the field for goodness sake.

Just four plays after the punt, DeAndre Hopkins got his spin button out multiple times on a 49-yard catch-and-run that set up an easy 36-yard field goal for Ka’imi Fairbairn, giving the Texans a 19-16 win.

One man who wasn't best pleased about it was Jerry Jones, who had this to say.

"We were being outplayed," Jones said of the Cowboys, according to a report from ESPN. "It's time for risks at that particular time."

It wasn't just Garrett that was disappointed. Fans on social media were as well...

Compare this to what Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams did. Facing a 4th-and-1 while leading by two points, McVay had faith in his guys and kept the offense out on the field. Quarterback Jared Goff put the team on his back, dove forward and grabbed the first down, ending the game in a W for the Rams.

There's a huge difference between the Rams and Cowboys, even if Dallas don't see it. This just proves it.
