His leg bent awkwardly after being tackled by Seahawks safety Bradley McDougald and he had to be treated on the field for several minutes before being carted away.

Hurns has since undergone corrective surgery and he told NFL Network: "I'll be good to go by the beginning of the season."

The 27-year-old was in his first season with the Cowboys, having signed a two-year deal last off-season after spending his first four NFL seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

He finished the year with 20 catches for 295 yards and two touchdowns, losing playing time through injury and the mid-season trade that brought Amari Cooper to the team.

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said of Hurns: "He's going to come back, he's going to play a lot of football for us in the future."
