Watch: The Ian Botham shot that was so bad it had 'Beef' Johnston in absolute stitches

Sir Ian Botham played a shot today that suggested cricket skills might not translate easily over to golf while taking part in a charity tournament with European Tour golfer Andrew 'Beef' Johnston on Wednesday.

The pair competed in aid of Botham's own charity the Beefy Charity Foundation which raises funds to support projects that help young people facing challenges such as chronic illnesses.

The competition saw the pair play one hole at 18 different golf clubs across the country in one day.

After teeing off at 6am in County Durham from the 1st hole at Rockliffe Hall,'Beef vs Beefy' then jumped on a helicopter to play one hole in each of the cricketing counties in the UK, finishing on the 18th hole at North Middlesex Golf Club.

On hole three at Lindrick golf club near Worksop, site of the 1957 Ryder Cup, 'Beefy' attempted to forge some magic with a tricky iron shot from a tough position that saw his swing partially obstructed by a bush.

However, as you can see in the video below, Botham reminded everyone why he represented his country at cricket rather than golf.

As predicted, the bush did prove a distraction and caused him to completely mess up his swing, resulting in the ball moving a few yards, at most.

Arguably even better than the shot itself was Johnston's reaction as he suffered such a huge bout of giggles that he had to retire to his golf cart to calm down before moving on.

He even tweeted the video himself:

While Botham is widely regarded as one of the greatest cricketing all-rounders of all time it might be fair to suggest that his prowess doesn't fully extend to golf.

By the look of Johnston's reaction 'Beefy' will be hearing about that shot again for some time to come.
