Eddie Hearn has a fascinating theory regarding Fury ahead of potential Wilder fight

Boxing Hall of Fame promoter Frank Warren has insisted that a fight between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder is “very close” to being done.

Showtime Sports president Stephen Espinoza, who is also involved in the deal, has also said in recent days that the fight, in discussions for about a month now, is close to being finalised.

Wilder turned to a possible fight with Fury when a showdown for the undisputed world title with unified champion Anthony Joshua fell apart last month.

Joshua elected to instead face Alexander Povetkin on September 22, rather than take on one of the biggest fights the sport could offer against Wilder.

Even if the Wilder and Fury camps agree to a deal, Fury will first have to win the second fight of his comeback on August 18, when he is scheduled to face former two-time world title challenger Francesco Pianeta in a 10-round bout at Windsor Park in Belfast.

Eddie Hearn recently spoke to Fighthype.com regarding the potential Wilder and Fury clash, and he still remains dubious about the whole saga.

“Fury isn’t ready for this fight if it happens, but they must be offering £15 or £20 million for him to be even considering it.

“Fury and Warren might be playing them (Wilder and Finkel) just to get a bit of exposure for their fight next weekend. If it’s true, It’s a great game they’ve played, but then Wilder will kick-off for sure.

“I can only say, that from my conversations with Fury, this fight isn’t happening in Nov/Dec. I mean he won’t fight Tony Bellew, he won’t fight Dillian Whyte.

“I hope the fight happens because it makes Wilder v Joshua huge, but there is significant risk for Fury as it would kill a future fight with Joshua if he lost. There is a huge risk.

“One thing I’m 99% sure about is that if he fights Wilder he will still have another fight in between. Then there might be a little injury…..

“If I was Wilder I would be extremely sceptical.”
