The bout has been discussed for months but Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury is well and truly on.

Wilder will defend his WBC world heavyweight title against Fury at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles on December 1.

Not only will the WBC belt be up for grabs, one fighter will lose their perfect record.

Wilder has registered 39 knockouts from his 40 fights, while Fury is unbeaten in 27.

The American will go into the fight as the slight favourite with home advantage and, after the fight was announced, he paid his respects to Fury.

"I can’t wait to fight Tyson Fury in the biggest fight in the heavyweight division and all of boxing," Wilder said.

“I have tremendous respect for Fury for agreeing to leave England and come to the U.S. to challenge me.

"I’m the WBC champion, he’s the lineal champion, and the winner of this fight will show the world who is ‘The Man’ in the heavyweight division.

“As much as I respect Fury, I fear no man and fully intend to knock him out like every man that I’ve ever faced in the ring.”

Meanwhile, Fury tweeted: “This is the biggest heavyweight fight in modern day boxing history. Never before have we seen 2 unbeaten champions go tow2tow for the fans! Both big personalities & both over 6”6 this should be a fight to remember. Let the games begin. Let’s get this party started.”

But the Brit didn’t appear to be too impressed that Wilder has been made favourite for the fight.

After odds comparison website Oddschecker tweeted out the latest odds for the fight, Fury just had to reply.

He wrote: “I was 5/1 vs old wlad but still won.”

Well, you can’t argue with that.

The odds will no doubt constantly fluctuate between now and December but it seems Wilder will be heading into the fight as favourite.

Not that Fury will care too much.
