Conor McGregor has responded to Floyd Mayweather's offer the only way he knows how

Former UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor has rejected Floyd Mayweather’s offer to train in his Las Vegas boxing gym with a savage tweet.

The Irishman made his professional boxing debut last August when he faced the unbeaten Mayweather in what was billed as ‘The Money Fight’ with an estimated $300 million being renovated.

Mayweather would halt McGregor in 10 rounds to go 50-0 and break Rocky Marciano's record for the longest unbeaten streak in boxing.

It seemed both fighters would go their separate ways despite rumours of a rematch in both the ring and MMA.

However, after it was announced McGregor would return to the cage on October 6 to challenge current UFC lightweight champion and fierce rival Khabib Nurmagomedov, Mayweather told TMZ he would offer some help to his former opponent and praised the Irishman.

"I know that UFC has a training facility, but we'd like him to work at the Mayweather boxing club," Mayweather said.

"From what I know, (Nurmagomedov is) a hell of a grappler, and he can wrestle. But you know, the fans want to see you stand up and fight. That's what they want to see.

"But Conor McGregor's a tough competitor. Conor McGregor's not going to back down from anyone. He's not scared. He's a warrior.

"I'll talk with (UFC President) Dana (White), I may talk with Conor and get some tickets."

Despite these complimentary words, McGregor took to Twitter to seemingly publicly reject Mayweather’s offer, by tweeting: “F–k the Mayweathers, except Senior and Roger. There is no peace here kid. Step up or step down.”

Despite their differing approaches towards each other, Mayweather did have one last thing to say to ‘The Notorious One’ as he mocked the skillset of McGregor and teased the competitiveness of their bout.

"Easiest 9 figures I ever made! All work is what ?," Mayweather responded on Twitter.

After a fight that brought so much drama and entertainment in the build-up, it seemed only inevitable these two mavericks maintained their grudge.
