Tyson Fury has reacted to claims Deontay Wilder talks are just a publicity stunt

With the Francesco Pianeta fight just around the corner for Tyson Fury, this will be his second fight since his formidable return to the boxing ring.

However, Fury is not looking to waste any time as he insists that he would like to fight undefeated American boxer Deontay Wilder later this year - who currently holds the WBC heavyweight belt.

Despite his short break from boxing, both of these fighters would enter the ring as undefeated boxers and could be an excellent test for the Gypsy King.

Within a recent interview, Fury said this: “One hundred percent, the plan is to fight Wilder before the end of the year.

"I don’t know why people don’t listen, we’ve said it 100 times: fighting Wilder is going to happen, it’s not a publicity stunt.”

With a fight between Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder not an absolute certainty as of yet, Wilder may turn to Fury for a guaranteed fight.

“What would Wilder have to gain from saying he is going to fight me? Nothing.

“He’s (Wilder) not coming to Belfast to see my fight for the fun it. There’s nothing to gain. If the fight between us wasn’t happening I wouldn’t say it is happening.

“It won’t be off-putting having Wilder ringside. I will deal with Wilder when I’m done with the fight against Pianeta.

“Get past Pianeta and then I will go and fight Wilder somewhere.

“But it ain’t going to happen if I don’t win — ‘Beyonce’ Wilder is in the future.

“By the time I fight Wilder I’ll have had two warm-up fights. It has been a great journey, I’ve had a great comeback," Fury shared.

As mentioned by Fury, the Manchester-born fighter will need to defeat Italian boxer Pianeta before he even thinks about a fight with the American champion.

Pianeta is a 33-year-old boxer and is currently ranked 138th in the world, previously holding the WBO European belt.

The Italian will certainly be a tougher test than Sefer Seferi, but will it be enough to prepare the Gypsy King for the Bronze Bomber?
